The Word

For as we have

The Word

Hear this, all ye people ; give ear, all  ye inhabitants of the world:

Both low and high, rich and poor , together.
My mouth shall speak of wisdom ; and  the meditation of my heart shall be  of understanding.
I will incline  mine ear to a parable: I will open  my dark saying upon  the  harp.
Wherefore should I fear the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
They  that trust  in  their  wealth, and boast themselves  in the multitude of their riches;
None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

Hear, O my people,  and I will  speak ; O Israel,  and I will testify  against thee:  I am God, even thy God.
I will  not  reprove  thee  for thy sacrifice  or thy burnt offering, to have been continually before me.
I will  take  no  bullock  out  of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.
For every beast of the forest is mine, and every cattle upon a thousand hills.
I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beast of  the  field are mine.
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fullness  thereof.
Will I  eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Offer unto God thanksgiving ; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
And call upon  me  in the day  of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shall glorify me.
But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest  my words behind thee.
When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst  with him, and  hast been partakers with adulterers.
Thou givest thy mouth  to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
Thou sittest and speakest  against thy brother ; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.
These things  hast thou done,  and I kept silence ; thou thoughtest  that I was  altogether such an one  as thyself : but I will reprove thee,  and set them in order  before thine eyes.
Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there  be  none to deliver.
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and  to him that ordereth  his conversation  aright will  I shew  the salvation of God

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Distributing to the neceesity of saints; given to hospitality.

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
